A new exhibit honoring the Mexicano Vaquero families who lived and worked at Canoa Ranch was dedicated October 22, 2016. The Raul M. Grijalva Canoa Ranch Conservation Park is located in Green Valley and is home to historic Hacienda de la Canoa, a historic landmark.

This exhibit, the first permanent exhibit of its kind in Pima County, was created to honor the Mexicano Vaquero families of Canoa and is dedicated to the ā€œChildren of Canoa.ā€ These families brought their courage, loyalty, and hard work to Canoa Ranch, which prospered and became the premiere cattle ranch in the Santa Cruz Valley. In honoring the Mexicano families of Canoa, we honor our heritage and better understand our history and our community.

Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation extends its deepest gratitude to Amanda Castillo, a child of Canoa, and Patricia Preciado-Martin, author of Mexican culture. Their inspiration, dedication and contributions made this exhibit a reality.

Canoa Ranch is located approximately 40 miles south of Tucson.

Directions:
Take I-19 south to Canoa Ranch Drive, (exit 56). Go east under freeway and then north on east frontage road to the Canoa Ranch entrance.
