The full title of this lecture, given on May 20, 2006, is: "Lesbian Child Development III: Oedipal Romance with Mother." It was the third and last talk in a series called "Basic Concepts of Lesbian-Affirmative Psychotherapy & Inner Work for All Women," and was presented by Sandra Golvin, JD, LMFT, a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist and educator who was at the time in the process of developing an authentic lesbian-centered psychology as well as a new organization to support such a development, which was called The Center for Sapphic Psychoanalytic Studies. Sandra's work was in large part a re-interpretation for lesbians of the work Mitch Walker had previously done for gay male psychology, and her Center, along with this lecture series, was sponsored by the Institute for Contemporary Uranian Psychoanalysis, which Mitch Walker co-founded in 2005 (www.uranianpsych.org). When this talk was delivered, Sandra had already been fighting a virulent form of ocular melanoma for about six months. She passed away on August 3, 2006, but she leaves behind a remarkable inspiration around the possibilities for further development of lesbian-centered psychology.
