Though some of them have visited Buenos Aires, the dancers in this film are all products of North American Argentine tango culture. They live and dance in Portland, Oregon. With the exception of one (Mike McCarrel), none of them teach tango or dance professionally. Most of them dance regularly with each other. The creator of this film has danced with them all.

Tangueras need fantastically beautiful clothing with total freedom of movement. Poema is dancewear for Argentine social tango designed for dancing late into the night without sacrificing the opulence of luxury materials or the delicate whimsy of handmade couture.

Silk, feathers, fossils, gilded edges, tea-stained chiffon, layered sediment, oil on water, oriental rugs, smeared rainbows...Hannah choose fabrics that evoke the freakish beauty of the natural world, combining them with old-world glamour and touches of modern sleekness. The poema silhouette is sensual, comfortable, and celebratory of the female form in motion.

Hannah's inspiration comes from the milonga environment and from her own spiritual and physical relationship with tango. She is constantly motivated by the marvelous & powerful women who give life to her creations on dance floors around the world.
