Date: 21 August 2011. Sculptor, Stuart Ross Snider, installed his unique, hand-crafted sculpture called, "Sky Island Monument" in the Pinaleno Mountains within the meadow, Treasure Park, Arizona. It disappeared overnight. The following day he discovered it destroyed & the foundation demolished by unobserved & unknown persons. The monument lasted less than 12 hours. Stuart's artists statement was meant to promote a protected "national park" status for Mount Graham. Presently, the wilderness area status is as a "national forest." His creative preservation efforts meet resistance on many levels.
