It's been awhile since my last update on SpaceX's progress and now the countdown is on. Elon Musk has announced on his Twitter account: "Preview of the @SpaceX interplanetary transport system at @IAC2016" https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/7...
IAC2016 is the International Astronomical Congress for 2016, which will take place between September 26 and September 30 2016. It's on the cards that Musk will very probably unveil his long awaited Mars strategy. It appears also that his Mars Colonial Transporter is now the Interplanetary Transport System, which implies it has applications for journeys to other destinations in the solar system. Perhaps the Moon, or the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, maybe even Mercury and Venus.
The important thing is that we are finally going to see just what SpaceX are proposing and exactly how they plan to shield space travelers from the radiation on your journey. We'll also get to see how accurate my educated guesses and theories for the mission turn out to be. So set your clocks for September 26-30 - it's going to be an IAC to remember!
