Hey, y'all! This here video is a proud introduction to my beloved pet, the ferret named Artist! She is so special that she has actually a middle and a last name, that being Artist Rita Fereé! Artíst is pronounced "Art-eest", in a French-ish way, ha! Anyways, I got her in September 2009, a friend gave her to me to keep me company out in the desert, and dern tooten, we've been best friends ever since!

I research about ferrets, actually there is even an American Ferret Association, they got a website and all, with lots of info. If you are a ferret owner, or if you're interested in getting one, check their website. I would strongly suggest a ferret, 'cause they make great pets! They are very playful, y'all!

I don't need lessons from y'all PETA folks, to be quite honest. From what I seen, some of y'all get a little too crazy on the whole animal right thing, a little overprotective, I would say. I don't need to be part of a tree huggin' organization to know how to treat my animals. I treat my pet as good as I would treat a fellow human being - but no better! I treat my animal with decency, respect and great love. She's part of the family, and since I ain't got no family, or kin folk at all, she's all the family I got right now!

My ferret has her own big three stage cage, but it remains open at all times, so she's free to do whatever the heck she wanna do in my bedroom. I managed to improvise during these though economic times and I made her toys myself - a can of coke wrapped with carpet, so she can play with it and "hide" it, like ferrets do. I also built her a tube out of the same carpet, sorta like a tunnel, so she can climb up to my bunker bed and sleep me with me at night - which she does every night, under the blankets by my feet. She's the cutest thang! She made me a lot of company when I was living alone and isolated in the desert for months, so now she came to town with me and as you can see, even she is enjoying the Internet! :)

I'm fixin' to get her a companion ferret, probably a male, so she won't be lonely and depressed. Even though she is fixed and I ain't gonna get no little'uns, I think that she deserves to have some company. She loves digging holes and walking in the backyard. She got used to the leash in nearly four days. Very smart and obedient animal. Well, to make it short, I love my little ferret! In a platonic way, of course, lol :) she'll be back here on Youtube purdy soon, this channel is officially hers as well. Artíst is three years old.

UPDATE: Artist got two new friends now that live with her, two males. They already had names when I got them, so I will keep it. Staples is a brown male with a bandit mask, a he's a year old. Gasper is brown/white, big and six months old. They all live together in the same room with me, and they've been getting alone great! Artist makes all kinds of sounds that she ain't never made before and she seems to be truly happy! They will be featured in my videos here later on, y'all.
