Sudha Achar's achievements as the EHCC/HMOCA Board Chair/ CEO were celebrated and honored in a special event held by the EHCC Board members, friends, staff and volunteers on April 24, 2010. Over a period of ten years, Sudha contributed volunteer service as the Board Chairperson and CEO of the East Hawaii Cultural Council and HMOCA, in Hilo, Hawaii. During her term of leadership, she was also honored by induction to "Women's Hall of Fame" and recognized by the Hawaii County Mayor and Hawaii State Governor for her contributions to the arts. As Sudha elected to leave her position, the EHCC Board honored her by electing and retaining her as the Emeritus Chair of the EHCC. Lastly, she established an irrevocable Endowment Trust to benefit EHCC/HMOCA and the arts in East Hawaii for posterity. Her time-tested skill in rallying support from many diverse areas of the community to promote the arts has proved invaluable.
When she elected to leave her position as Board Chair and CEO, she secured the EHCC with a strong balance sheet and savings account; a paid ED and a new volunteer Board Chair. MAHALO, Sudha
