Dr. Michael Häusser is working in the field of understanding synaptic integration and dendritic function. He has made important advances in revealing how the integrative properties of single neurons, and in particular of their dendrites, contribute to regulating information flow and memory storage in neural networks; and his group has also been instrumental in developing new approaches for recording from single neurons and small networks of neurons in vitro and in vivo using a combination of optical and electrophysiological approaches.

About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

optogenetics is entirely silly, just as silly as parallel universes and mindupload

you lose credibility because you make no sense. almost everyone in the academia uses macs. mostly because they can use grant money to buy them.

Its so very easy to comically pass off neuroscience as a bunch of guys getting paid to play with rats, but when you take a moment to see the incredible depth to these seemingly trivial activities, it is truly astounding.

WOW! I absolutley thank goodness that people like Michael Hasser are studying such phenomena to advance us all. Who knew a neural cirucuit could control monogamy? The 3Fs from pond scum? Wow again. I loved this talk.

Only to you of course.

Great talk...can't help but think of the philosophical implications that may follow if we do "break" the neural code.

He loses credibility because he uses a Macbook.
