Roger Frechette, Managing Principal of Interface Engineering, one of AGU’s building renovation partners, discusses one of the top sustainable design features in the AGU building renovation: the solar PV array. The solar PV array will capture the sun’s energy and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. During certain sunny times of the year, AGU’s building will actually be able to put energy back into the city’s electrical grid. Each panel on the array will produce approximately 360 watts providing enough energy to power all the building’s needs including the lighting system and equipment like computers and laptops.
