The Dark Knight Rises Ending Explained - Spoiler Warning!

What's up guys, it's Trev back again to bring you another batman the dark knight rises video. This one will be discussing the ending of the dark knight rises and explaining from my standpoint the part where Bruce Wayne is seemingly killed when the bomb goes off. Later on there is a scene where we see Alfred in Florence Italy at a small restaurant and just as he alluded to earlier sees Bruce with Selina Kyle eating and they sort of make eye contact and smile. A lot of people take this to mean that Bruce actually did live and survive the blast while others think that Alfred is merely imagining it as he said he does every time earlier on in the movie. So the topic is, did Alfred actually in fact physically see Bruce there with Selina eating or was he just imaging it and in fact is Batman and Bruce Wayne actually dead? I think this was a fantastic ending to an amazing story and can't wait to see it again to sort of make more sense of it myself. From what I have seen so far the ending appears to be open ended making people decide for themselves whether or not Bruce Wayne himself lives on or is in fact dead and buried. So what do you think? Is bruce wayne actually still alive at the end of the dark knight rises or is Alfred just imaging it like he said he does every time? I believe it is purposefully made open ended so the audience can decide for themselves which ending they prefer. Also just because Selina is there I do not believe makes it conclusive that Alfred is in fact seeing them because Alfred did meet Selina earlier in the movie and knows that Bruce was going after her and involved with her sort of. Very interesting ending in deed. A lot like the ending on Inception with the spinning top and an absolutely monumental conclusion to my favorite trilogy of movies of all time. .

It's been over a year since the movie came out, and barely anyone can figure out whether or not Bruce Wayne is Alice. So, allow me to explain. Remember the explosion that occurred before The Bat flew out over Gotham Bay? That was an intentionally created explosion so that Batman/Bruce Wayne could conceal his ejection from The Bat from public view. Batman flew in a separate vehicle, and watched as autopilot finished the job. Wayne also left behind symbols for the people he cared about most. Gordon saw a newly made Bat-signal, Fox learned that Bruce had fixed the autopilot software six months prior, and Alfred saw Bruce in person. How so? Because Selina was wearing Martha Wayne's necklace. Alfred did not know who Selina Kyle really was, and he wasn't aware of the romantic chemistry between her and Bruce. Bruce utilized the "clean slate" device, completely erasing all records of him, and Selina Kyle. CGI and many of the film's main actors even confirmed that Bruce was still alive after the film's release, and, along with the aforementioned evidence, clearly proves that Bruce Wayne is alive and well. Thank you.

why is everyone missing the 3rd clue about the police commissioner on the top of the building rubbing his hand on the brand new batman light signal thing and smiling? and there was a 4th clue as well but it was much more difficult to catch. Robin had a letter in that bag, which had the details of the whereabouts of the batcave. obviously this had to have been written by Bruce. so hence, he's still alive

The ending was to signify that Batman is dead, not Bruce Wayne. The ending isn't open, the ending is just merely a way to explain the point of Batman. It doesn't matter who is Batman, Batman is a symbol for the people and he is a sign of hope. Nolan will not make anymore Batman movies, and neither will Bale. Don't know if there will be a Robin movie, but if their is it won't be a Nolan movie!

Michael Caine stated in an interview that Alfred did NOT imagine Bruce being there...

no its not an open ending    because they show him alive at the end of the movie and with selina kyle and that is a proof that alfred wasn't imagining him  because he didn't even know about their relationship and selina was wearing the necklace that was lost at the end of the movie (so bruce gave it to her....which means that he is alive)and the autopilot was fixed 6 months ago ...... and he fixed the bat sign and we saw how gordon was happy when he saw it and he looked to the sky ....so he wanted gordon to know that he is alive.....  all that proves that this is not an open ending and batman is alive

Both endings are great!! They finish up the trilogy well. I find that believing he is dead is a much more intriguing idea. The idea that batman is a martyr for Gotham and did a Walter white type setup making sure someone is in line after him to continue the legacy just fits too well. I compare this to Mass effect 3s ending, I like the indoctrination theory even though there is reasonable explanations and evidence for both interpretations. I think darker endings are more interesting and inspiring that face value optimism.

it showed Batman in the bat 5 seconds before detonation. The bomb had a 6 mile blast radius. Batman would have had to travel 4319.9966 miles per hour to safely get away from the blast. It is impossible to travel that fast in the realistic universe that Chris Nolan created. Batman and Bruce Wayne died in the ending. I agree that it is open ended, but I like the ending where Bruce Wayne dies because it is simply more realistic and true to the trilogy.
