Last night some wretches (must have been at least 2 men in a large van) dumped a ton of rubbish, some probably toxic, on the drive at our orchard. This is the third time we have been targetted, but it happens all the time locally. People, semi-profesional workmen, probably working in the 'grey' economy to avoid paying VAT and income tax, dump their builder's rubbish in country lanes like this in order to save the modest cost of using the local authority dump. And because they don't give a shit about the lives or well being of others, or the beauty of the Hampshire countryside.

The local authority, to whom we pay heavy taxes will eventually clear it away. Until then we can't access our farm.

Clearing this sort of mess is a major drain on public money at a time when, for example, the potholed roads need mending. The police are not interested. The only thing that would stop it would be CCTV cameras, a determination to investigate and prosecute, and exemplary fines. Ain't gonna happen. Not a priority.

A sad and sorry end to the Jubilee celebration weekend. The night before last some drunken vandals snapped off and took away the modest flagppole outside our home. We heard them do it whilst in bed around midnight but decided it was safer to do nothing. England, today. But its going to get much worse.
