Debating Drengskapr: Theme and Meta-Theme in the Performance of Mannjafnaðr in the Icelandic Sagas - paper given by Jonathan Broussard, Louisiana State University at the Vagantes Medieval Graduate Student Conference at the University of Pittsburgh in March 2011. Broussard examines an argument between two Norwegian kings - Eystein I Magnusson and his brother Sigurd I Magnusson, on who is the better king. The story is retold in two sources: the Morkinskinna and the Heimskringla.
