Geraldine Laybourne, founder and former CEO of Oxygen media (the mother company of Nickelodeon) when asked to mentor, found that her busy schedule didn't allow it. Instead of rejecting meeting requests, she called these interested and upcoming women to join her in her morning walks every day. This started a movement now called the Mentoring Walk. On November 17th this year, across the globe, women will be walking and sharing their experience with someone who needs it. We call upon women at the peak of their careers; women who have learnt plenty in their lives and are willing to share virtuous lessons with the upcoming generation of women leaders to join in the walk as mentors. The mentors are accomplished women who understand the importance of women's leadership and participation in society; are motivated to instil the value of mentoring in rising leaders; have 5 to 10 years experience in politics, business, civil society, academia or another field and have sufficient professional experience and expertise to feel confident in sharing experiences and insights into their professional field.
