A brief behind the scenes look at a bit of the 1975 movie. In Black and White. A terrible movie. I figure big fans will still watch it, just not like it. Ha.

While the movie was not the "real" Doc Savage, it has a special charm of its own and is actually well liked by a great many fans of the original character (including Yours Truly, who doesn't claim to be an expert on such things was DID contribute a couple of special essays to last year's deluxe hardcover reissue of the book "Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life."
this was soo much better than the movie...it was accountants decision to make it a 'comedy'.....yikes....the real movie should be animated, have weirder music..and be dead serious.

I must be the only one who loved the movie.
I was surprised George Pal made such a bad movie after his great scifi movies.
James Campbell
well according to my friend Eldon Quick Johhny much of the budget kept dissapering during production so they only had limited funds to work with and I think they should have stayed with the original plot than combining two or three seperate stories into one story.

Astounding that such a concentration of talented people could take a successful story line and a proven set of characters -- and turn out such a dismal movie. It's like Julia Child and Craig Claiborne collaborating to turn a hundred pounds of Kobe beef into dog food.
If this movie had been made today, even to the standards used to produce it in the 70's, it would still have spawned 3 or 4 sequels.

What a sad movie about a special pulp "super hero", full of corny music, lame acting and poor direction. I have a complete set of Doc Savage novels, but even owning this joke of a movie would give me a bitter taste in my mouth.
