Maxwell Hughes is a Grammy-nominated songwriter and former guitarist of The Lumineers. It all started in 2002, when Hughes picked up the guitar for the first time and wrote the worst song EVER. By no means was he a prodigy or musical gift to the world, however, through determination and boredom he came to find that a passion for music lived inside of him. After winning the Battle of the Bands as a solo acoustic instrumentalist in 2004, his dream of becoming an accomplished musician started to become a reality. Among those who have heard him play, it is commonly accepted that Maxwell is one of the finest musicians Colorado has seen.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
