Our Cuisinart skillet exploded - the metal cap covering a rivet ripped off while cooking. The cap shot across the stove, bounced around, and ended up, very hot, on the counter top. It was fortunate nobody was hit or burned by the projectile.
It strikes me (pun intended) that a skillet would not normally have this kind of failure absent a manufacturing or design flaw.
Cuisinart did not respond to our inquiry, hence this video.

Update: As a result of the report to the US CPSC the Conair company - owner of the Cuisinart brand - responded. They did the right thing - asked for the defective unit so that they could examine the flaw.
