Recruits on the All Arms PTI course in Sennelager in Germany have qualified as Physical Training Instructors.

Before they got to wear the crossed swords of Royal Army Physical Training Corps they had a few obstacles to cross.

The final few days of training consisted of the operational fitness test.

The 2.4 kilometre tab carrying 20 kilos in under 15 minutes is designed to replicate the strength needed on deployment so soldiers train as they fight.

PTIs are responsible for making sure their units are fit to deploy to Afghanistan. The test also includes four representative military tasks.

The pass off parade is to demonstrate to a crowd of family and colleagues new skills they have learnt.
