Sussex College - Negombo

As you come along Negombo- Chilaw main road and turned from the Telwatta junction to Kimbulapitiya Road, a beautiful landscape as large as about eight acres would cross your eye where the Negombo Sussex College is situated. The college has unique status as the Sports Complex of the Sussex College Network. The Kiddies' section of the school will soon have a lovely modern building complex too.

As you pass the main gate of the school, you would see the playgrounds extending over four acres on to your right. This playground having a 400 meter track - the only one of its kind, is the centre of attraction in the whole city of Negombo. The air around the entire locality is fresh and cool with the 25 meter long ultra modern swimming pool. The college building complex expressing the grandeur of a fully fledged college campus stands to your left in these lovely precincts.

The Sussex College, Negombo was established in January 2004 on a concept developed by Mr. K.A sunil Jayatissa, as the founder of Sussex College network as a project of the then highly successful conglomerate known as the Ceylinco Group headed by Deshmanya Lalith Kotalawela.

Sussex Negombo is second to none in coaching the students from play-group to local Advance Level in English medium. In addition, it also has facilities in place to coach any students who wish to take up the London O' Level as well.

At Sussex, Information technology is taught from as early as Grade 1. French and English Literature are also taught side by side with the mother languages such as Sinhala, and Tamil. The religions of parents' choice such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam are also taught as compulsory subjects. It is our objective and a unique feature to have concern for our local culture and religions so much so we celebrate Sinhala-Hindu New Year, Thaipongal, Christmas and Ramadan in equal spirit thus giving the children the exposure to be fine human beings moulded to live in harmony in a multi-lingual and multi-cultural and multi-religious atmosphere.

In the IT driven global village, the Sussex's children will stand tall as true sons of the soil capable of facing the challenges of the 21st Century.
