On December 4th and 5th, 2014 - The USC Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy and the USC Sol Price Center for Social Innovation - held a joint conference entitled Prioritizing Place: A National Forum on Place-Based Initiatives.
This conference was the culmination of a year-long inquiry into the state of philanthropic initiatives and public sector efforts to address geographically-concentrated poverty.
This plenary session will discuss how situating place-based initiatives in larger contexts presents operational challenges to practice. How do the philanthropic and public sectors need to work differently? What are the implications for community leaders and organizations?
