U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), today praised the Senate's passage of the bipartisan surface transportation bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). The bill passed the Senate today by a 74-22 vote. Senator Boxer thanked her colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their cooperation and compromise in crafting the bipartisan legislation, which reauthorizes the nation's surface transportation programs for two years. Current funding for surface transportation programs expires March 31, 2012, and Senator Boxer urged the House to pass the Senate bill before the current extension expires.
