The Rough Road Riddim returns with five new takes on the original Chronixx recording, “Life Over Death” (#LODremixes) and it’s all about about movement. From Coki’s minimal dubstep foundation to the uptempo, rough around the edges Suns Of Dub futuristic sounds, there is lots more of Chronixx to experience in between. Listen to the ‘stringsed-up’ arrangement by SoundPonics or the acoustic version of Green Lion Crew’s hip-hop influenced take on the hard core roots original. Just when you thought you had heard it all, Zion I Kings’ one drop reggae remix of the original finishes with a fitting return to the roots. A special shout out is due to visual artist Taj Francis who also designed the original artwork.
Just as Chronixx has pushed the boundaries of reggae music beyond its normal borders, these talented producers and sound engineers have made careers of boundary defying musical works. Brand new versions from a London dubstep pioneer (Coki of Digital Mystiks), and a future dub collective (Suns Of Dub featuring Addis Pablo and Ras Jammy) as well as one of the most significant producers of roots reggae music in recent years (Tippy I of I Grade Records and Zion I Kings), not to mention a special contribution from the Rough Road creator, Green Lion Crew whose work includes Beenie Man “Tun Up!” and Collie Buddz “Come Down”.
Feel the vibes of the UK’s dubstep scene, reggae and dub from St. Croix and Jamaica with a dash of American pop. This is more than music. This is Chronixx,”Life Over Death. The Remixes!
