10th grade Social Justice final project.

The death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of someone by legal process as punishment for certain types of offenses. It has been practiced at some point in nearly every civilization throughout history for various types of offenses. Presently, 58 nations actively perform capital punishment and 95 countries have actively abolished it. However, the majority of executions is limited to very few countries. 93% of them took place in China, Iran, Saudi, Arabia, Pakistan, or the United States in the year 2008. This injustice, the death penalty, should be rectified, for it does not deter from criminal action, it is racially biased, and it is often based on wrongful convictions.
