Jon says fake news, as a service, mimics genuine marketing practices, and is being sold underground by cyber criminals. Oliver says fake news is fabricated information with no basis and facts, amplified by some automated mechanism. He adds that fake news is 'ageless'. However, he says the only thing that is new about fake news is the fact that it uses automated mechanism on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter. He says people spreading fake news have researched how social media algorithms work. He adds that the underground forums for fake news are available all across the world. He notes that this is an organised crime.
