“Bhartiya Rail” is MassQline & Jatin’s debut Hindi hip hop and rap song that sheds light on the unity within our diverse country – India, through the railways. The song was initially written on a metronome and stitched together with a simple desi Indian melody created with a mandolin.

Lyrics (Translated):
Verse1:
Running out of breath, I somehow managed to get on the train
Running hastily, didn't see which bogey I went in
What kind of a world is this, is this even Indian Railways?
Oh, it's first AC, train of the rich ones
There's wasn't anybody there, so I sat comfortably
Kept seated until the Ticket Collector made me run away from there
Then I was passing through the second AC bogey
There were people behind curtains
And I kept smiling
Watching a mother scolding her child in funny and broken English
The kid got shocked and said, mother are you alright, what is this that you're speaking
A guy was smoking cigarettes outside the washroom
We shared a couple of smokes, became friends and exchanged stories

Prechorus:
Maharaja Express or Teeth darshan,
I hopped on the train to get a view of real India
Opposites coexist, such is our unity
A nation full of enormous diversity, the world watches us

Chorus:
One at heart, but we're of all different kinds
This nation lives, and is shaped by our existence
We are the beat of 1.25 billion hearts
We are the voice of Guru Nanak, Lord Rama, Jesus and Allah
We're not just a train, we're complete India
We're not just a train, we're India
We're not just a train, we're complete India
We're not just a train, we're India

Verse2:
Walking through air conditioned bogeys, I reached the sleeper bogey
I could smell people opening their tiffins, felt a sense of homeliness
The old ones were busy playing cards, chatting, exchanging stories
And they contemptuously called the teenagers, "Netflix people"
They are disheartened at the young blood for being hooked to their phones and lost in them
The kid over there is tempted to pull the red Emergency Stop chain
But immediately, he's reminded of his father's ass whooping
A guy was chanting the name of Goddess Durga
Another was pouring whisky in a bottle of Pepsi
Someone was returning home after fixing his daughter's marriage in another city
Someone is returning from Haridwar, after releasing the ashes of his loved one's cremated body in the holy Ganges
And so I came here to tell you what's in the hearts of my people
And brought Kashmir to Kanyakumari, everything in a song

Prechorus:
My country is splendid and magnificent
But don't know why it's still stuck in a matrix of castes
Why are we divided by these lines, when made of the same earth
Let's erase the lines and put a message out to the nation!

Got off the train and saw there's another bogey, labelled "general"
It's not connected from within
You need to step down to reach there
The struggle over there is real, there's no joke about it
That part of the nation never got to taste independence
They lived in harsh conditions, toiling and facing devastation
India was irrigated by the sweat of those who laboured for it
But it seems to have left them behind in it's journey of growth and development
Today we need to unite through Hip Hop
We need to build ourselves and bring ourselves ahead
We're no more dependent upon governments, begging
The iron is hot, now it's time for change
Today we need to unite through Hip Hop
We need to build ourselves and bring ourselves ahead
We're no more dependent upon governments, begging
The iron is hot, now it's time for change
Today we need to unite through Hip Hop
Today we need to unite through Hip Hop

One at heart, but we're of all different kinds
We are the beat of 1.25 billion hearts
