Ed and I learned this gracefully melancholy tune from Boston area fiddlers Linda Henry and John Reddick. It comes originally from the repertoire of North Carolina fiddler Marcus Martin (1881-1974). It is played on the fiddle with great sonority in DDAD tuning. West Virginia fiddler Edden Hammons (1876 - 1955) called the tune "Queen of the Earth, Child of the Sky." Ed is playing clawhammer style on his OME Columbine in double C tuning capoed on the 2nd fret, I am three finger picking my Ode Model 42 in open D tuning.
