Original variations on the "Lament" from Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" (in the form of a chaconne) by composer pianist Daniel Abrams from his "Opera For Piano" series. Using the first 9 notes of the bass line of the "Lament," Daniel Abrams goes on to create a magical set of original variations based on that bass line but written in the stye of Purcell.
Recently sampled in a hip-hop song "Nightmares For A..ever" in Weerd Science's new album "Red Light Juliet," Abrams' music is turning many rap listeners onto the joys of classical music. "It's hauntingly beautiful" "Possibly the new Pachelbel canon" (the crossover "hit" of the 70's)
