On June 9, 2012, the Sharing Farm at Terra Nova Rural Park played host to the first ever Richmond Day of Caring. Over 100 volunteers, representing a diverse group of local businesses and non-profit organizations, took to the fields to weed, plant, and dig. It was hard work, but also a lot of fun, not to mention an incredible example of community spirit. The event was part of the Richmond Caring Companies program, which helps businesses develop and implement corporate volunteering policies, while teaching non-profit organizations how to partner with businesses to better meet the needs of the community. Program participants included Ashton Service Group, Back in Motion, Beavis Wong & Associates, Misty Mountain Specialties, Richmond Funeral Home, Scotiabank, the Canadian Mental Health Association, MOSAIC, Richmond Addiction Services, Richmond Family Place, and Touchstone Family Association.
Richmond Caring Companies is presented by Volunteer Richmond, Coast Capital Savings, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, and Ashton Service Group.
