The idea of this series of photographs is to explore human nature in reference to insects. We are afterall similar to some extend. A poem is

written for each of this picture.

Ink on skin
Ink in flesh
Memories which stain the body
Or the living, breathe fresh
Meaning into life
Meaning unto death

Perhaps our reflection in creation
Are signs, for you and I...

We can't always be what we want.

-----------------------

This black beauty
Is a leggy creature
Or so they say
In her solitude she may
Weave or spin a dewdrop web
That isn't meant to hurt you.

After all, we should never bite off more than we can chew.

-----------------------

I have to be flexible
I have to stay strong
Maybe if I stretch enough
I will grow long
One day I'll be taller
Maybe even a little wiser
For every leaf that passes by
Brings me closer to the sky

-----------------------

It's a rather dreary occupation
To live life on the edge
Fumbling for scraps
I make ends meet
To what end
I can't begin to comprehend

I'm rather simple minded
It's a blessing, or so I'm told
I'll just keep marching forward
For there seems no better way to go.

-----------------------

Oh you sir, of little faith
I shall pray devoutly for you
Amen! A praying man?
'Tis foolish not to.

-----------------------

Privacy is a privilege
That only humans have
Nature reveals but never conceals
All our flaws, our iniquities

It can't therefore be a crime
To be seen up close, from far.
Our nakedness - inevitable,
A part of who we are

This leaf is all I have for now
As shelter from the sun
My only wish is that this human
Leaves once his photo is done.

-----------------------

That which I hold in sharp relief
I hold in high regard
I flit and flutter
Buzz and sting
Snap, snap. A shutter?
Wait, I thought that was a flower!

Busy bees are busy as can be.
It's hard for them, however
To handle anomalies.

-----------------------

Walk like a lady
They told me
To be yellow
To be black
To be spotted
To blend in

But no one can be all these things
Especially human beings

I've learnt to care
Much less about
What they say
What they think
What they do
To be me is not a sin.

-----------------------

I'm sure there would be a peculiar odor
Regarding this particular engagement
If only I could smell or see
Its shape
Its color
Its arrangement.

No matter, for it's just a place
For me to rest my wings
God knows how many places I've been
After all the things I've seen

I can't say for sure
What it means to run or fly
But I can tell you
Impossible is nothing
So long as you try.

-----------------------

I know not what I did
To deserve your human sympathy
But to hold life itself
Within the palm of one's hand
Requires more than empathy

Death of a loved one
Birth of a newborn
How we've loved, lost and believed
To move on may be the hardest thing
Even if it's what it takes to live.
