John, Isobel and Evie go through the hive following the slightly unplanned removal of the wild comb. It's now late summer and they have the wasp guard on the Beehaus to keep out any unwanted visitors. To inspect the colony they have to take the supers off which feel quite heavy but will there be any honey in there? The colony is looking in great shape and our novice beekeepers are becoming very good at recognising eggs, larvae and the capped brood but the queen is still proving hard to spot.
