I just discovered this from a WhatCulture Simpsons video. This moment will be 30 years old this October.

One of my favorites... It's things like this that made Johnny the greatest of all time...
Carson is like "Did we seriously have nobody else available for the show??"
+kalloused He had Jennifer Tilly, but she got completely bumped off, due to this whole Potato Lady shtick (suffered her through two commercial breaks-humoring this Mid-west lady from Fort Wayne, IN who works as a "defect inspector" on a high-speed potato chip line, making cracks about how "a few drinks may help you to start seeing things in the chips", and all that just to set her up for the dummy chip crunch ploy.). I can just see Jennifer getting pissed off and squealing off the set with how her spot got hijacked by this potato chip lady.
What an adorable lady! She's so passionate about those chips.
Yes she is so sweet

Classic humor from Johnny. Today's comedian's rely too much on vulgarity and sexuality. Johnny just relied on timing and he was the master of it!

I 100% totally agree😊

Carson is a legend because he could make a shitty guest interesting.

The lady was just an average American doing the best with her job, and doing something that made her happy. Nothing shitty about that. You think?

Agreed. Although I don't think Myrtle was crazy; she just had a very specific area of interest. She said it herself: she would never be able to stop noticing the interesting shapes made by potato chips. It may be a bizarre talent, but at least it's unique.

You must have literally nothing going on in your life to collect CHIPS.
