This piece is dedicated to Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan whose rendition of Raga Madhyami with two Gandhar's was mindblowingly beautiful to my teen ears (and am sure still will be).

The usage of two "Gandhars" with the "Kaunsi" aspects provides a very nice twist in the feelings. My personal name for this raga is Harikauns as it came to me with verse and a compostion. The note combinations of Harikauns are different from Nandkauns which this alap doesn't show as much.

Inspiration for this raga on the musical side of things is from: Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan's Madhyami, and to raga Chandranandan as I head from Pandit Rajeev Taranath.
