This is a story Graham Cooke tells in a message he gave called, "Living From A Place of Dreaming."

Most of my friends would fit in nicely in most churches and country clubs. A few, however, who don't yet know the Lord, can be a little crass around corners.

They are thirsty.

Because they don't know Him they seek satisfaction elsewhere. Namely weed. Last week they tried convincing me of weed's goodness. The conversation went like this.

"You gotta try it Sam. It's just so good."

"I don't even have a desire to try it."

"That's just because you haven't tasted how good it is. Once you taste it, you'll know. It chills you out in such a good way. Just try it and then make up your mind."

"Really, I'm okay. I'm already pretty chill."

"Sam, just try it once. I promise, it's so good you won't regret it."

I left that conversation not wanting to try weed; I know weed doesn't offer what we most deeply desire. I left that conversation wanting to talk about Jesus the way they talk about weed. My fix breathed the sun into existence (Psalm 33:6). Theirs has just enough life to poke through dirt if the sun that was breathed shines long enough to give them food to survive. And yet they speak of their savior with grander words than I put to mine.

I am learning how to speak of Him.
This short story from Graham Cooke is exactly what I'm talking about.
