A chieftain of the ancient middle East suffers along with his tribe under an unjust attack ordered by the short-fused pagan Queen Jezebel. His stubborn insistence upon loyalty to a code of ethics that leaves revenge strictly in the hands of his God earns from that same God the novel privilege to select the punishment He shall bring down upon Jezebel and her accomplices. Months after choosing a drought that afflicts not only his enemy but the entire land, the chieftain suffers along with the ones his punishment was meant for. During an encounter with Jezebel and her accomplices, they demand that the chieftain end the drought. Instead, he challenges their gods to a sort of duel against his: whoever shall answer their prayer to end the drought shall be the true god. After vain efforts by the pagans, the chieftain himself calls down fire from the sky which harms some of the priestesses. Fleeing from the wrath of Jezebel even as rain pelts the hills, the chieftain secludes himself in a secret cave, where the true God reminds him that his presence is not meant to attack and harm, but first and last to whisper in gentle words of wisdom to his children that they would learn and grow and prosper, and only when they stop up their ears must he resort to crude and brash ways.
