One of the elite programs in Division III, the Pride reached the national championship in 2000 and the national semifinals in 1999. For four consecutive seasons, from 1998 to 2001, a Springfield College player garnered New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year honors, including Melissa Rogers in 2001. Rogers took the head coaching reigns in 2004 from field hockey legend Dottie Potter Zenaty, who retired after 34 years on the SC sidelines.
