US News & World Report Publishes it's Ranking of Gastroenterology
at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo Among the Best Children's Hospitals
BUFFALO, NY -- Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo is included by US News & World Report in its current special edition of "Best Children's Hospitals".
Patients, families, their physicians, nurses and other staff will gather at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo to announce and celebrate this achievement of national recognition on Tuesday, August 28 at 10:30 a.m.

As one of the ten specialty areas within children's hospitals ranked nationally in the "Best Children's Hospitals" edition of US News & World Report, Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo ranked in the top 50 for Gastroenterology among nearly 200 hospitals invited to participate for the 2012-13 rankings.
Led by Susan Baker, MD, PhD and Robert D. Baker, MD, PhD, Medical Directors of Gastroenterology, the Division of Gastroenterology, an American Board of Pediatrics recognized sub-specialty, is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. A qualified and diverse staff provides evaluation and diagnosis for infants, children and adolescents with diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and liver, as well as nutrition support services. The Division of Gastroenterology follows over 9,000 patients and performs over 1,000 specialized procedures per year.

The Division specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of nutritional problems, gastrointestinal problems, including inflammatory bowel disease, reflux disease, diarrhea, constipation and peptic diseases, and liver diseases, including hepatitis B and C, autoimmune hepatitis, metabolic liver diseases, preparation for transplant and follow up after transplant. Besides a world-class clinical operation, the GI division has also a vibrant basic and clinical research program.
