Who Invented Stuffed Crust Pizza? The Greatest Pizza Invention Known to Mankind? Anthony T. Mongiello, the youngest son of Angelo Mongiello Sr., who himself was the inventor of the mozzarella-making machine and the creator of the Polly-O String Cheese stick. Anthony accompanied his father to the successful Polly-O pitch meeting and within a few years had his own mozzarella invention in mind - a little thing called Stuffed Crust Pizza. After patenting the method he offered it to Pizza Hut - twice - and was told they were not interested.

Shortly afterward, Pizza Hut unveiled a new product "Stuffed Crust Pizza" and spent 45 million dollars to promote it using spokessupestars like Donald Trump and former Beatle Ringo Starr. Over the next ten month Pizza Hut increased their revenues by 1.4 BILLION dollars. Picking his jaw up off the ground from shock, Anthony brought a suit against the Pizza giant. He was offered $50,000 by Pizza Hut to drop the suit but he decided to fight - yet eventually lost. But no one can take away his name and his accomplishment. As Pizza Hut claims in its Winter 2011 ad campaign, Anthony's invention is "The Greatest Pizza Invention Known To Mankind". Period. Way to go Anthony!
