Lakademu is a group of four men which symbolize Nikodemus, the man who carries Jesus corpse. They wear unique costumes which cover their whole body. There is only a small hole around the eyes. They did "kure" job as streets and Armidas area cleaner. Armida is a place where tribe's sacred object was saved. There are 8 armidas in Larantuka. Every Good Friday night people walk through the town streets and stop in every armidas as their devotion.
At Good Friday afternoon when lamentation was doing in Cathedral, Lakademu walked out from Kapela Tuan Ana to Cathedral. They walked hand in hand through the town streets and stopped in every armidas for cleaning the procession area. They entered to the grave which located behind the Cathedral too. As they arrived at Cathedral, they took place beside Tuan Ana in the altar.
In this video, you can see that religion diversity makes regularity in Larantuka. When Lakademu was entering the Cathedral, some moslems with white "kopiah" in their head looked after the worship and made the procession went on in solemn and peace. How beautiful!
