José Graziano da Silva (Director General, FAO)

The 8th Director General of FAO (UN's Food and Agriculture Organization) José Graziano da Silva was born on 17th November in 1949 in USA. Graziano da Silva holds a Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy and a Master's Degree in Rural Economics and Sociology and a Ph.D. in Economic Sciences. He led the successful 'Zero Hunger' programme, which has contributed to lift out of extreme poverty 24 million people in five years and to reduce undernourishment in Brazil by 25%. This is undoubtedly a revolutionary example in fighting against hunger and eradicating poverty.
