On September 9, my grandpa passed away at the age of 86. I was lucky enough to have found the time to videotape an interview and tape him doing what he loved best, working in the same garden that his father had worked up until his death.

Like many of our parents or grandparents Grandpa Dody lived through the depression and fought in World War Two. The last time he was ever in an airplane was when he was jumping out of one as a paratrooper. He returned from the war in a boat and never set foot on a plane again.

All his experiences created character. He was hard working and loved spending time with his family. I feel blessed that he was alive to have spent time with my son, Jacob who is only nine months old.

Always find the time to spend with your family, because once they're gone we are only left with memories.
