Dr Rebecca Fiebrink, Goldsmiths University, presents The Wekinator, software that employs supervised learning algorithms to create new instruments and systems that can respond to actions, rather than specific programming. Anyone can use The Wekinator to create an original concept or performance, using accelerometers, motion sensors or any hardware, and can train the computer to respond to gestures, images materials in an infinite number of ways. Rebecca has taken this project to artists, schools and people with disabilities as an innovative approach to expression and communication that doesn’t require programming expertise and showcases some of the amazing and diverse material thats been created. The Wekinator is free to download, get involved!
