This movie shows scenes around Gambell, St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, between the years 1942 and 1944, with a focus on meteorology, as described in the memoirs of Vaughn Rockney, who was OIC in Gambell. Scenes include launching weather ballons, digging a trench for the Gambell central water system, eskimos skating on a lake, Eskimos playing, unloading a DC-3 airplane (possibly "King Chris", operated by the CAA), his wife playing with dogs, eskimo ice fishing, unloading walrus meat, and an Alaska Star Airlines plane landing with Clara, the future wife of David Evanson.
