On May 18, 2010, Senator Leahy spoke on the Senate floor about his most recent efforts to put the United States on the path to joining the international treaty banning landmines. Although the U.S. has not signed the treaty, 158 other nations have over the last ten years.
In a letter to President Obama today, Senator Leahy and 67 other Senators signaled the Senate's willingness to work with the Administration to move the U.S. toward signing the treaty.
