Shows Bounce Metronome from http://bouncemetronome.com Inspired by an idea from African drumming - instead of playing a straight 8:5 always the 8 beat part exactly meets the 5 beat part at the measure beat, you can play the 8 and 5 so they meet each other at other positions in the measure instead of the measure beat.

Also you can accent the 8 as 3+2+3 and the 5 as 3+2 and start those patterns at different places in the measure as well. So have done all that in this video.

With 8:5 then you would need to do 13 parts playing at once to play all the possibilities - which would be such a dense texture it might be hard to hear what is going on.

In this video then I've done just three parts for the 8 beats to a measure and four parts for the 5 beats to a measure.

To make this rhythm I set all the parts to play 40 beats to the measure - and then simply skipped the beats that needed to be skipped to make this rhythm. You could alternatively enter it as music notation for all the parts using the Drum & Dance rhythm editor. But this skipping beats method is probably easier to use..
