This was the 3D aeroplane I used in a movie of mine called The Horror III, which lives on Vimeo because of copyright reasons. http://vimeo.com/17495018
It began life as a 1970's toy plane on a string, and when I decided to put a dogfight sequence into my movie I rescued it from the trash. My attempts to film it against a bluescreen were frankly fucking awful though, so I had to find another way to work with it.
In the end I took about 30 still shots of different parts of the toy, and began to build it using 3D layers in Adobe After Effects. You might be thinking "why the fuck didn't he just use a 3D program?", and the answer is I know fuck all about 3D modelling. I can't do it.
Anyway, this dinky little thing took a week or two to put together, and I chuckle whenever I see it in action.
