Part 1. Card modelling began with Hartmann's crucifix in 1529 and was closely connected with the invention of printing press by Gutenberg. Part 2. Schreiber-Bogen started publishing card models around 1870 and it was closely connected with the newly developed printing technology - lithography. Dreadnoughts and other warships were popular topic for card modelling at that time as reunited Germany started to build new navy.
