Vientiane lies on the Mekong river which is quite wide overhere. There had been some flooding, as I will show in my next film, because it was the rainiest monsoon in over 20 years. They recently build gigantic dykes to protect the city. On the riverbank some fishermen are standing fishing in a traditional way. Some westerner keeps making photos of one of them. On the newly made "boulevard" some young monks pass with umbrella's against the sun. One of them calls in passing "Hello. How are you?" proudly showing off his English. Later some others enter a monastery and temple area.
