This prank call was an underground hit in the early days of the Internet.

The oldest evidence of the call circulating dates back to October 1998.

Some people say the call was the work of the Jerky Boys, but I've never seen definitive proof of this. The voice does sound like John Brennan of Jerky Boys fame, but I don't think it's him, and the caller doesn't give Brennan's familiar character names Sol Rosenberg or Mort Goldman. I think this was just somebody inspired by the Jerky Boys.
