Until the release of PI Server v3.4.380 and later, PI Users and PI Groups were the default security mechanism to identify who could connect to the PI Server and edit secure objects such as PI points. We discourage users from using PI Users and Groups and suggest instead using PI Identities mapped to Windows users or Active Directory groups. PI Users and Groups may remain of interest to customers with users outside of the Windows domain of the PI Server.
