In this third episode of AEA's "Fix It In The Mic" series we had the chance to interview the renowned producer/mixer/engineer Ronan Chris Murphy. His discography spans hundreds of albums recorded in studios around the world. He is known internationally for his extremely eclectic client base and for working with some of the greatest musicians in the world. Notable credits include King Crimson (several albums), Terry Bozzio, Nels Cline, Ulver, Jamie Walters, Steve Stevens, Tony Levin, and many more. He is also the founder of the Recording Bootcamp (http://www.recordingbootcamp.com), dedicated to teaching real world skills to help creative people make better recordings in any recording situation.

In the interview Ronan talks about his recording philosophy, microphone techniques, and the importance of choosing the right microphone for the application. Learn about his tricks and secrets, high quality front-end vs. mix plugins, as well as the advantages of ribbon microphones to capture the sound you want rather than fixing it in the mix.
