The remarkable story of the Dutch blind artist George Kabel.
The story of George Kabel is the story of victory and defeat. It takes you into the world of the blind artist George Kabel (1955) from Eindhoven. The documentary is about giving new meaning to your life. At first George loses his sight and then he’s turning completely deaf. We see George at work in his atelier, showing his work at the Van Abbemuseum to visitors and as main guest during the workshop ‘Feel and See’ in Rotterdam. George is an artist and one of the 800 Dutch people who suffer from the syndrome of Usher. He’s not only blind, but will also turn deaf. Last year George exhibited his first conceptual work at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven.
‘A Sense of Black’ is made in collaboration with ‘Stichting Lislokaal Rotterdam’ and ‘Mikxs’, creative solutions for people with an auditory or visual limitation.
The Premiere of A Sense of Black on 1 december 2018 had some overwhelming reactions and is sold out.
